She is royal-blooded; a princess from Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area in Imo State and as a thespian, she is a delectable queen of Nollywood.  Rita Dominic who few days ago clocked 40 needs little or no introduction. 

Born, Rita Uchenna Nkem Dominic Waturuocha, she is an alumni of University of Port Harcourt where she studied Theatre Arts. Her movie career spans over 18 years with scores of high profile movies she has starred in. She also co-produced award winning film The Meeting.

The fourth in a family of four, her late parents were medical practitioners; her father was a medical doctor and her mother a nursing officer. Rita completed her primary and secondary education in Abia State. The beautiful screen goddess started performing since her childhood in school plays and children television shows in Imo State. She starred in her first movie titled, ‘A Time To Kill’ in 1998. She has featured in over 150 movies. In 2004, she won the City People Awards as the Most Outstanding Actress.

The top actress and face of many brands once said that she cannot imagine herself doing anything aside acting while adding that passion for acting has been sustaining her in the industry.

Unlike some of her colleagues who in the past have delved into singing, many had thought she will embrace music when she featured in Darey Art-Alade’s song, but she confessed that though she had been tempted in the past to go into music but she refused to venture into it.

Though she had her own share of bad press in the past, one of which is her strained relationship with a fellow actress, Ini Edo over a relationship with a former governor, the fair-skin actress is still the delight of journalists’ anyday, anytime. She once accused journalists of destroying her altar-bond relationship.

The 2012 Best Actress of the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress captivates attention anytime she appears in films.

Another aspect about the talented role interpreter that is captivating is her ability to diversify unlike some of her colleagues who get stereotyped in specific role. From innocent victim, to a nun, to a whore, a seductress and many others, she played all these roles perfectly. In each role she is able to draw the audience so much that they believe she is the role she is playing.

Unarguably one of the best dressed Nollywood divas, she is bathed with class and has a high dress sense that amazes her fans and her colleagues. Even at 40, she can pass for a lady in her early 20s. Her ever radiant smiling face endears many to her.

About two decades in the industry this face of Zaron cosmetics is still a sought after actress.
