James Rodriguez returned to action on Sunday after being sidelined for two months with a broken foot.

The Colombian midfielder started and assisted two goals – his tenth and eleventh of the campaign – while playing just over sixty minutes during his side’s 9-1 win over nineteenth place Granada.

Following the contest, James was buzzing about the team’s performance and went on to say that he and his teammates are targeting domestic and European glory between now and the end of the season.

“We’re all fit now and that’s good news if we want to achieve things, irrespective of who plays,” James said. “We’ve got what it takes to win the lot in La Liga between now and the end of the season. We have the talent and faith to do so.”

The 23-year-old went on to thank Real Madrid’s medical staff for helping him return to action as quickly as possible. James only returned to first team training a little over a week ago, but showed no signs of rust during his 61 minutes of action Sunday.

“I’m happy,” James said after the match. “After sixty days out, I reckon I had a good game. I’ve been doing physical and cardio work to make sure I would be fine.”

“This is possible thanks to the doctors and physios, who have helped me a lot. I wanted to come back as soon as possible and I was working with them from the morning to the afternoon and into the night.”

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti also praised the Colombian’s performance and the immediate impact the midfielder had on team’s play.

“He had a good game,” Ancelotti added. “It didn’t seem like he’d been gone two months without playing. He was strong, showed his quality and helped the team. He created a lot of direct play with his vision.”

Real Madrid still trail Barcelona by four points on the La Liga table with nine matches to play – after the Catalan club’s 1-0 defeat of Celta Vigo.

Madrid still has important matches remaining against Sevilla (away) and Valencia (home). However, with Barcelona still to face Sevilla (away), Valencia (home) and Atletico Madrid (away), the La Liga title may not be determined until the final day of the season.
