Many residents in Kano State on Saturday hailed the inaugural speech of President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as inspiring and promising.

The residents told the News Agency of Nigeria that the speech gave them hope and inspired them on better things to come.

Malam Ali Saleh, a lecturer, said the President spoke on critical and significant issues that needed to be addressed.

“The speech gave us hope and inspired us, especially on the issues of security and corruption,” he said.

On his part, a bank manager, Bassey George, said that the decision to relocate the military command centre to Maiduguri , Borno State, showed the seriousness and commitment of the President in tackling the six-year-old insurgency in the area.

“I commend President Buhari for laying more emphasis on security challenges and Boko Haram insurgency in northern part of the country ,” he said.

Similarly, a civil servant, Comrade Abass Yusha’u, said the President’s inaugural speech was a reflection of the manifesto of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Yusha’u, who described the speech as “simple and straight-forward,” urged Buhari to pursue his agenda with utmost dedication. He said that he was sure the President would keep his campaign promises.

“I pray he fulfills all of these promises that he made, especially on security, corruption and power,” he said.
