Leaders, Rangers International, will engage Champions, Enyimba of Aba, in another Oriental derby at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
The Flying Antelopes were forced to a 2-2 draw in Umuahia by Abia Warriors in the last derby the club played last month.
The league leaders will try to bounce back from their 0-3 humiliation in the hands of El-Kanemi Warriors in Lokoja in one of the week 8 matches on Wednesday.
Enyimba, on the other hand, will seek consolidation after grinding a 1-0 win over visiting Plateau United of Jos in Umuahia on Thursday. The champions have played four matches with two wins and two losses respectively and are place placed 17th on the log. The last time Enyimba played Rangers at the stadium in 2015, the two-time African champions defeated their host 2-1. Pundits have predicted a possible draw going by the pedigree of the two sides.
Rangers is in a good form, losing only two of the last eight matches it has so far played this season. Enyimba, on the other hand, dispatched both Vipers of Uganda and Vital O’ of Burundi to qualify for the final knockout round of this year’s CAF Champions League, where the club set up a rematch with Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia. It is a reminiscent of the 2004 edition where Enyimba defeated the North Africans in Abuja.
