Enugu Rangers International on Tuesday resumed training after going on one day strike following the non-payment of their five months’ salaries and other emoluments.

In a press statement by the Director of Media and Publicity, Foster Chime, on Tuesday, the players were said to have reached a meaningful resolution with the Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Charles Ndukwe.

“The players actually had an incisive interactive session on Monday July 27, 2015 with the new Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Charles Ndukwe, in his office on issues relating to their welfare and payment of their five months’ salary arrears.

“The Commissioner had earlier had a heart to heart/friendly and incisive deliberation with Management on Monday on positive ways of alleviating the players’ and officials problems soonest so that it would not affect their focus in securing the elusive F.A. Cup (Federation Cup)  now that is sight,” the statement said.

The Media Director said that based on the friendly interactions with the commissioner, the players have commenced intensive training ahead of their crucial Federation Cup and second round leagues matches.

In the same vein, the commissioner was said to have promised that his office under the new government leadership of Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi would do all within its powers to ensure the players’ financial entitlement is settled.
