LagosIt was a day of blessings for Enugu Rangers players in their Week 27 2-1 away victory over Akwa United in Uyo, as they have earned themselves a total of N1.6 million from their bonuses and other entitlements.

Foster Chime, the Media Director of the club, told Independent on Sunday that the players would get their entitlements between Monday and Tuesday.

The Enugu side pay N40, 000 away win bonus for every player registered for a particular match. There is also a N500, 000 away win bonus from the League Management Company (LMC), which Rangers earned following the win in Uyo.

Chime further revealed, “It will interest you to know that apart from the normal away win bonus (N40, 000) and the LMC largess, the players will also enjoy a windfall of N400, 000 from the chairman.”

He expatiated that the N400, 000 is a “philanthropic” gift from the club’s chairman for the players in all away wins and draws.

He, therefore, enthused, “So, one can see that the Week 27 away victory is a double blessing for the players and they are all very happy as I speak to you now; they will get the money not later than Monday or Tuesday in Enugu.”

Ozo Chibuzor, Rangers General Manager (GM) and Vice Chairman of the Board, while corroborating Chime, asserted, “This is just a little among many benefits that the players and the officials stand to benefit as they continue to post good results.”

He reiterated that Rangers are poised for the NPFL title this season even as they have lost out of the Federation Cup.

“Now that Rangers are no more in the Federation Cup, we will have to work very hard and ensure we grab the league title; that is the target this season and we will achieve it,” Chibuzor concluded.

It would be recalled that the club’s Technical Consultant, Christian Chukwu, told Independent before the Akwa clash that Rangers have put the Federation Cup loss behind them and said, “Now they must go for win home and away to achieve the season’s target.”
