Awka – The Anambra State leader of Progressives Peoples’ Alliance (PPA) and publisher, Mr. Godwin Ezeemo has donated a school bus and books to St. Thomas Aquinas Primary school, Awka saying that he believes education is a major weapon to uplift the society and fight crimes.

Ezeemo was also joined by the Parish Priest of Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Awka, Rev. Dr. Anthony Akabogu to call on parents to give their children solid foundation for the society to be free of crime.

They spoke in the school when Ezeemo met with the Parent’s Teachers Association (PTA) of the school and the students.

He donated a school bus, 85 text books and 320 exercise books to the school.

While advising the pupils he charged them to be obedient to their parents, elders and always read their books, while describing them as leaders of tomorrow in the country.

According to him, children were the future hope of Nigeria and that  the current leaders in the country had failed the people.

Ezeemo expressed displeasure that history subject was dropped in school curriculum in the country by the government, adding that without it, the children would not be abreast of the happenings in the society.

He pleaded with states and Federal Government to re-introduce history as a subject in the country’s education curriculum to help the present generation, who according to him were the future leaders know about their past.

While appreciating Ezeemo’s gesture, Rev. Fr. Akabogu said if children were not given good foundation, the society will pay dearly for it.

According to him, without quality education, crime would rise in the society and this has been the bane of the country today.
