Residents of Ado-Ogbadibu Federal Constituency, Benue State, on Thursday, barricaded the Makurdi-Enugu Expressway, to protest the inauguration of Hassan Saleh as a member of the House of Representatives.

The demonstrators, comprising women and men from the constituency, alleged that Saleh presented fake documents at the inauguration of the Eighth National Assembly.

Chris Abba had been issued a Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as member-elect for the Ado/Ogbadibu Federal Constituency, as he was the sole candidate for the March 28, National Assembly election.

However, a court ruling nullified the election, paving the way for the incumbent, Saleh, to be sworn in on Tuesday as a member of the House.

Saleh insists that he is the bonafide member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, but Abba, armed with the Certificate of Return issued by INEC, disagrees with him saying the matter is still pending at the Court of Appeal.
