An Islamic organisation, The Muslim Congress (TMC), has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to institute a probe of the captured Boko Haram members to unveil those behind the evil attack on Nigerians.

The Amir of TMC, Dr. Luqman AbdurRaheem, stated this while delivering a speech during the annual independence day lecture, held at GMT event centre, Osogbo, Osun state capital.

He also expressed the muslims support to the probe of treasury looters, embarked upon by the Buhari-led administration.

“We would like a far-reaching probe into the Boko Haram saga to unveil the elements behind the calculated attempts to dismember the country through a cloned war on Muslims.

“As we have always maintained, peace and stability can only be achieved in an atmosphere of justice and mutual respect for values held dearly by the various members of our plural society.

While commiserating with Muslims all over the world over the tragedies which trailed this year’s Hajj exercise, Dr AbdurRaheem frowned at the purported statements credited to Saudi authorities which blamed pilgrims of African origin as responsible for the stampede, noting that no racist intention was meant.

“We support the call by the Amirul Mumeen and President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Abubakar Saad 111, for a thorough investigation into the tragedies so as to forestall a repeat of such occurrence on the future,” he submitted.
In his lecture titled “The Change Mantra: Understanding the Social and Political Implications”, Dr. Taofeek AbdulHameed, noted that the absence of accountability, transparency, participation and creditability in the governance have been the problem preventing the success of Nigerian leaders.

He maintained that genuine and true spirit of unity is the only solution to achieve changes being crusade for, by the present administration.

The Don, who also decried the rate of poverty in Nigeria despite the huge resources, frowned at the type of governance, which he likened to that of Nichollo Machiavelli, the end justify the means.

In a related development, Mr Hamid Yusuf, who spoke on Good Governance: The Umar Bin Khattab Model, advised President Muhammadu Buhari to adopt the method of governance of Umar, the second caliph after Prophet Muhammad.

He described Umar as exemplary leader, urging President Buhari not to adopt the system of last administration.
