Pro Biafra Agitation: Ohanaeze To Convene Stakeholders Meeting In Enugu

The youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ohanaeze Youth Council, says it will convene a meeting of Igbo youths stakeholders in Enugu on Tuesday next week to find solution to the wave of protests in South East and parts of South South by pro- Biafran groups .

A press statement issued yesterday by the National President of OYC, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro; and the Secretary, Okwu Nnabuike, respectively, said the meeting had become necessary to avoid the growing agitation for Biafran autonomy from snowballing into another civil unrest.

He said that OYC decided to wield into the matter following the failure of an earlier stakeholders meeting scheduled yesterday ( Tuesday ) by South East Governors engineered by Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo State.

Expected at the Enugu meeting according to the statement are : ” youth leaders of all communities in Igbo land including Igbo – speaking communities in Delta and Rivers States, all youth wings of town union executives, and youth leaders of all political parties in South East.

Others include: leadership of all student unions in tertiary institutions in South East, all traders associations in all markets in Igbo land, representatives of Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra ( MASSOB) , and its sister Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB).

The statement also said that diaspora coordinators of Ohanaeze Youths, as well as members of the General Assembly of OYC  are expected at the summit.

Agenda at the meeting according to the statement include: Biafran agitation protest; release of the detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu;  the security of Igbo land among others.

OYC said it would negotiate with the federal government for the release of Kanu who is currently under detention by the operatives of the Department of the State Services ( DSS).

Ohanaeze youths which decried the leadership feud currently rocking the South East Governor’s’ Forum said Igbo youths would decide who would head the forum in the best interest of Ndigbo.

OYC tasked the governors to synergise and speak with one voice and stop ridiculing the Igbo race, warning that Igbo youths can longer tolerate further politicization of their future.
