Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has urged Christians who indulge in paganism and idolatry in the guise of cultural revival to desist from such acts of hypocrisy to avert the wrath of God.

Bishop emeritus of the diocese of Niger West, the Rt. Rev. Professor Anthony Nkwoka, gave the admonition in a sermon entitled ‘Ordained Ministers – Messages Of The Lord Of Hosts’ which he delivered at a special church service marking the ordination of deacons and priests and the commissioning of catechists and evangelists held at the Cathedral Church of SS Peter and John the Divine Nkwerre.

The Prelate said that the quest for cultural revival and identity of any given nation should not have anything to do with satanic and fetish practices. He also condemned habit of some politicians who profess Christianity in the day but patronise native doctors in the night in the quest for safety, security and protection.

Quoting copiously from some portions of the Holy Bible, Bishop Nkwoka told Christians that their lives would be adequately protected if they honestly and sincerely relied on God for protection. He said it was the Lord of wonders and the Lord of Abraham who made the children of Israel to pass through the red sea.
