Power of Persistence and Vision

If you are planning to leave a footprint in this world before you go, you must be determined to be persistent. The world is not ready to give you what you deserve but what you demand for. The bible says in the book of Job 14:14 that “If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.”

Have you ever heard of the Chinese Bamboo tree that is planted and watered for our years before it even springs out of the ground? This tree is so unique and interesting. It has to be nurtured day and night, on a daily basis for four good years before it even gives a sign of life. By the fifth year, the plant suddenly springs up and within six weeks, it becomes a tall tree.

Persistence has the power to yield positive outcomes. Infact, one of the antidotes of failure is persistence. If you persist, you really cannot fail. If you fail along the road to destiny fulfillment, you have not truly failed until you accept failure. However, if you are truly persistent, failure is a clear indication that you are getting closer to success.

Do you have a light in your house? Of course you do. No matter how stable or otherwise the light is you at one time or the other have light. Do you have light in your Car? Yes you do. Do you see light on the street? Of course you do. Lights are everywhere. The truth is that the electricity was borne from one man’s irresistible persistence to invent what many said was impossible.

Thomas Edison’s journey to the discovery of electricity was not an easy one. He failed over a thousand times. Even when others felt he did not know what he was doing, he persisted. The mocking of his colleagues did not deter him. He was hell-bent on developing the incandescent light. In almost all scenarios, people give up after only one try. Plenty never even try at all. Thomas Edison took each of those failures in his stride and forged ahead.

A man bought a piece of land he wanted to use to farm. As soon as he started planting, he soon discovered that nothing was growing on the ground. He tried over and over to plant something on it but nothing simply germinated. Unknown to him the land he bought was filled with gold and this hindered anything from growing on it. After about three years, he was frustrated and rather than trying to find out the cause of plants not growing on it, he decided to sell it at a give-away price. The man who eventually bought the land discovered the gold in it and his life changed forever.

Persistence is what makes one succeed where others failed. No one is born successful. You only become successful by the steps you take. Never make the mistake of giving up easily. Gold cannot be found on the surface of the earth. You need to dig deep. To fulfill your destiny, you must be persistent. Those who fulfill destiny are not those who give up easily. Do not let life bury you until you are dead. Job persistently served God inspite of all the terrible things that happened to him. Even when his wife told him to curse God and die, he remained resolute and held on to God.

If persistence can change the world, imagine what it can do for you. There are five major steps through which you can develop your level of persistence. You must practice these steps whenever you want to rise above your present dilemma.

(i)            Have a definite goal fueled by a burning desire to achieve it.

(ii)           Have a definite plan and continually work on it

(iii)          Close your mind against all negativity

(iv)         Form a friendship with one or more people who will encourage you to follow through.

(v)          Pray without ceasing.

VISION: It has been well said that a man without a vision is like a Bird without wings. It cannot fly. Your vision is an idea you receive from God about your future. God has a definite purpose for everyone He has created and woe befalls anyone who lives life contrary to that purpose.

The power of vision demonstrates that having a positive vision of the future is the most powerful motivator for change in one’s life and destiny.  Joel Baker once said; “Having a positive vision of the future is what gives meaning to life presently.”

A man without a vision is like a man without a future. A man without a future will always return to his past. One of the reasons why many find it very difficult to make headway in life is because they lack vision. The importance of vision is well spelt out in the Bible.

Proverbs 29:18 says:

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Vision is the bridge between the present and the future. Without vision, people perish. Vision gives pain a purpose. Those without vision spend their lives taking the path of least resistance as they try to avoid discomfort. With vision, you will not only know where you are going but also how to get there. If you have a clear vision of your destiny, you will not get lost in the crowd.

Habakkuk 2:1-3 says:

I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Another thing vision does is to single you out for leadership. When you see what others do not see, they will have no choice but to follow you.

Vision makes you original. God has a plan for your life that is different from that of anybody else. When you have a clear picture of that plan, you will not waste your time living another man’s life.

The world today has over six billion people who have different unique destinies. No two destinies are the same. You are created in a class of your own. The same way we have over six billion different finger prints is the same way we have over six billion unique destinies. This makes it increasingly important that you recognise your own. Failure to do so will make you roam aimlessly through life.

One of the outstanding attributes of vision is that it advertises your potentials.  You never know what you are capable of doing until the day God reveals to you what you are meant to do. Moses remained an ordinary Shepherd in the bush until the day God revealed his destiny to him. Immediately he discovered that his mission on earth was to rescue the Israelites from bondage in Egypt, a new chapter of his life was written. His major flaw, stammering, was inconsequential to his fulfillment of destiny.

Do you want to fulfill your destiny with uncommon speed? You must have a clear vision. Those whose visions are blurred never get anywhere on the road to destiny. Your vision accelerates your speed.

Above all, the importance of prayer to destiny fulfillment cannot be over emphasised. You need to commit your destiny to the hands of God on a daily basis. You must ask Him to help you secure your destiny from the devil and his agents who roam about looking for destinies to destroy.

Prayer is very important for every step you take in life. When it was time for Jesus to be crucified the Bible records that He secluded himself for the purpose of prayer.

Mathew 14:23 says:

And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

He understood the power of prayer. If Jesus could go off to a quiet place for the purpose of prayer, how much more do we need to. Prayer is our means of communicating with our creator. Your destiny needs prayer more than you know. The devil, man’s long time enemy is angry at every bright destiny. His agenda for the human destiny is enough reason for you to pray fervently for your destiny.

Join me to pray these prayer points: Every power that has blinded my vision and causing me to wonder aimlessly, be destroyed by the power in the blood of Jesus. O Lord, give me a vision about my future in Jesus name.

See you on the top.
