Power belong to the people – Edo Deputy Speaker

The Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Victor Edoror, has averred that the people hold political power in the new dispensation as their votes, based in the innovations brought into the
electoral process by the national chairman of the Independent National Commission, INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega.

According to Edoror, “the electorates now hold power. All elected office holders must give a scorecard of their time in office. That is the new order in the country.” He commended Professor Jega for the improvement he has brought into the electoral process viz the card reader and the Permanent Voters Card, PVC.

“There is an improvement in the electoral process. Professor Jega has written his name in gold with all the changes he has brought to bear in the electoral process. In no distant time, I see us going into
electronic voting system which will further may our election more credible,” he disclosed.

He averred that Nigerians are now adapting to the card reader which was problematic during the presidential poll on Saturday, March 28. On the success of President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari in the
Presidential Polls of March 28, the lawmaker stressed that it did not come to him as a surprise as he observed long before the polls that Nigerians yearn for a change in the way and manner the affairs of
governance was been conducted at the centre.
