Enugu State Police Command has threatened to deal with aggrieved political party members or their supporters, who embark on protest over the outcome of the last elections.

The threat was contained in a statement by spokesman of the command, Ebere Amaraizu.

Amaraizu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, advised aggrieved politicians to channel their grievances through lawful and appropriate quarters and avoid taking the laws into their hands.

The statement reads in part: “The Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force wishes to inform members of the public, particularly good people of the state that its attention has been drawn to a planned protest of mischief by some alleged aggrieved political party members/supporters in the state.

“To this end, the command has warned in strong terms that members of the public should be law abiding and channel their grievances if any, to appropriate and lawful quarters and also avoid taking laws into their hands,” Amaraizu said.

He further disclosed that security operatives of the command working in partnership with other relevant security agencies in the state have been directed to identify and fish out those in this habit with a view to bringing them to book in line with the relevant sections of the law.
