Police Rescues Woman From Abductors In Abia

A woman who was kidnapped on her way to Enugu from Abia State has been rescued unhurt by men of Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Police in Enugu State.

The Victim who was identified as Stella Dugwu was abducted by the kidnappers along the Lokpanta Axis of Abia State, on her way to Enugu, on Wednesday, July 30.

It was gathered that the kidnappers took her into a thick forest at lokpanta and contacted her relatives, demanding N2 million for her release.

Following, the report of her abduction to the Enugu Police Command Anti Kidnapping Unit, a full scale action was launched to rescue her from captivity.

The action paid off when men of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, acting on their intelligence report, encountered the kidnappers while they were waiting for the ransom and in the ensuring shootout, three of the kidnappers were fatally injured while others escaped with bullet wounds.

Spokesman of Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu who confirmed this report, said the victim was successfully rescued unhurt and without payment of ransom.

In a related development, three girls allegedly abducted at Nsukka by four men suspected to be kidnappers when they went to conduct prayers inside a bush at Iheagu Nru in Nsukka on August, have been left off the hook by the abductors without payment of any ransom.

Amaraizu, who also confirmed this incident, said a manhunt was intensified vigorously by the combined operatives of Nsukka Division, Anti kidnapping in partnership with State Security Services operatives, which forced the hoodlums to abandon their victims and fled.
