The #BringBackOurGirls group, on onday, was thwarted as it marched to the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, when a team of policemen and the Department of State Security (DSS) blocked access to the seat of power.
The protesters, who had planned to march to Aso Rock and deliver a message to President Muhammadu Buhari to act swiftly to save the more than 200 Chibok schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram in 2014 and believed to be hidden in Sambisa Forest, were halted at the Independence Avenue, Abuja, by a cordon of uniformed and plain-clothes officers.
Reports by PMNews stated that group, which had declared a 14-day lineup of activities to make the Buhari administration act quickly to rescue the girls, sat on the road and played protest music after the police stopped them.
Among the marchers was Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, former minister of education, as well as other placard-carrying protesters, who carried out the demonstration peacefully.
