A middle aged woman, Mary Luca, has been arrested by the police in Kaduna for allegedly clubbing her husband to death.

The suspect, a resident of Gonin-Gora, a suburb of the Kaduna metropolis on the busy Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, allegedly clubbed her husband to death late in the night of Friday of June 5.

Sources told Daily Independent that the deceased, who was the breadwinner of the family, was in the habit of returning home late and when accosted by his wife, Mary, on the ill-fated day an argument allegedly ensued between them.

“Mary had on several occasions accused her husband of keeping late night outside the home and had advised him to put a stop to such habit,” the source said.

The source who craved anonymity stated that at about 3.00 a.m. neighybour heard shouts from the apartment of the deceased’s family.

The eldest son of the deceased, Kefas, reportedly said he he heard his father’s shouting at the odd hour and that when he inquired from his mother, she told him that armed men had broken into the father’s room.

The deceased son alleged that as much as he tried to get information from his mother, all he got was shouts of ‘Thief! Thief!! Thief!!!’; and then she hushed him up that “armed robbers” were operating.

Kefas further claimed that when he summoned courage to force his way into the father’s room, he found him vomiting blood.

He said he could no longer talk to his mother who, at this time was still pretending that it was armed robbers that attacked the father.

“There was a heavy object by his side and it was the forehead that was bleeding profusely,” Kefas said.

It was learnt that at the dawn, neighbours came around to help and the police outpost at Gonin Gora arrested the woman.

She was taken to Sabon Tasha Police Station where she was placed in detention.

Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abubakar Zubairu, confirmed the incident, that the accused had been detained by the command for further investigation.
