Police Arrest Ten Robbers In Lagos, Recover Weapons

The Lagos State Police command has swooped on criminal hide outs, arresting no fewer than 10 suspected robbers in the last five days.

Several arms and ammunition were equally recovered from the men of the underworld during the raid.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) who confirmed the arrests said that on 15th May, 2015 at about 11.45 am, Police patrol team attached to Orile Division while on patrol along Lagos/Badagry express way close to Orile bus stop, intercepted a motor cyclist and a pillion and arrested one Chinedu Okeke, with a bag containing Ak-47 rifle no 57012, three magazines and twenty five live ammunition.

It was gathered that the motorcyclist escaped while the police closed up on him.

Nwosu said efforts are on to arrest the fleeing motorcyclist. He disclosed that the case has been transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba for further investigation..

In another development, Nwosu said that on the same  15th May, 2015 at about 11.15am, along Bale Animashaun road Alakuko,  Police men attached to Alakuko Division recovered a locally made pistol with one live cartridge, one white lady’s hand bag containing a wrist watch, a Techno handset phone charger and a Bajaj motorcycle  Reg. No. DGB- 086-UR abandoned by two armed robbers. He said that the armed robber took to their heels on sighting the Police team, adding also that the case was under investigation at the Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba Lagos.

It was revealed also that on 17th May, 2015 at about 12.10am, policemen attached to Ikeja Division who acted on information arrested one Abiodun Azeez,  Segun Ogundeji,  and one  Eze Igbo  in their operational vehicle, one Mazda 323 reg No FKJ-21-DA. They were said to be arrested along Opebi Road Ikeja.

Itemd recovered from the suspects included two locally made double barrel pistols.

Finally, on 19th May, 2015 at about 12.10am, the anti-robbery team attached to Ogombo Police Division was said to have arrested some suspected armed robbers.

The suspects were picked up at Okun-Aja area of the state.

They include, one  Ibrahim Hassan aka Ak 47 said to be the gang leader, Hammed Suleiman, Yusuf Akinsanya, Jide Araba, Segun Shola, and Gbenga .O.

Items recovered from the hoodlums include charms and two Honda motorcycles. The matter according to the PPRO is under investigation at Ogombo police division.
