The Rivers State Police Command on Friday said that it arrested four suspected kidnappers, one armed robber and recovered stolen vehicles.

A statement by Ahmed Mohammed, Police Public Relations Officer, said the arrest was made at Ohigha in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government and Diobu, Port Harcourt.

The local government area has been a hotbed of killings and cult-related crisis that has shut down business activities since last year.

The statement gave the names of the arrested kidnappers as Henry Ajie ‘m’ age 23 years, Bright Ajie ‘m’ age 22 years, Dadison Ogadima ‘m’ 22 years  and Sampson Dibia ‘m’ 30 years all from Ohigha village, adding that they were arrested for complicity in the kidnapping of Mrs. Igila Sunday ‘f’ of Ohigha village on January 7.

The suspects were said to have kidnapped, raped, strangulated her to death and buried her corpse in a shallow grave at Ogbosi.

The gang also confessed to have been responsible for the kidnapping of one pastor Chukwu Ekere of same Ohinga community, killing him for the simple reason that the man of God disturbed them with preaching to repent, shun nefarious activities and accept God.

In a related development, the Command arrested Chidiebere Ngangbu ‘m’ 35 years and recovered two suspected stolen vehicles. The suspect was arrested on this month at 10:30 p.m. along Ejike Street, Diobu, Port Harcourt.

The command said his arrest was sequel to a reliable tip-off that the suspect was sighted with vehicles presumed to have been stolen.

It said the vehicles recovered from him are brown Toyota Camry with registration No. Rivers SKP 239 HR and brown Nissan Murano jeep, with registration No Lagos KRD 190 AC.

The PPRO said the suspects would be charged to court as soon as the investigations are concluded.
