The police in Niger State have arrested four suspects over cult clashes between youths in Sauka Kahuta and their Barkin-Saleh counterpart in Chanchaga Local Government Area (Minna metropolis).

One of such clashes led to the killing of one of them and left others with varying degrees of injuries.

Among the suspects now being quizzed by the police over their alleged involvement in the crisis that has forced some of the residents of the two communities to abandon their homes included Usman Abdullahi, Abdullahi D and Abdullahi Aminu.

The seeming endless crisis between the two groups, our correspondent gathered, started recently when the youths at Barkin-saleh attacked those at Sauka Kahuta over superiority claims.

And during the clash, a yet to be identified youth from Sauka Kahuta was reportedly killed by the rampaging Barking-saleh youths which later escalated to the two communities.

Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Niger State command, Mr. Bala Elkana, who confirmed the clash, said that on getting report about the crisis, the police quickly swung into action with a view to preventing the situation from getting out of control.

“The immediate intervention of the police led to the arrest of four suspects believed to have been actively involved in the crisis while investigation is still ongoing to get some of the fleeing suspects who were indicted in the crisis arrested”.
