Niger State Police Command has in the past six months arrested a total of 1, 091 suspected criminals, convicted 666, while 251 are awaiting trials out of the 785 reported cases across the 25 local government councils in the state.

The police therefore called on parents and guardians to play their role of proper upbringing of their children to avoid being lured into joining bad company which could lead them into becoming hardened criminals as they become full adults.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olusola Emanuel Amore, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the activities of the command between January and June 2015, explaining however that, 56 of the cases are currently under variant stages of investigations.

Among those arrested in the past six months, the commissioner said, include four men who tried to bribe him with N1 million cash to subvert the cause of justice in an armed robbery case and a syndicate in collaboration with some bank officials found in possession of fake currency.
