Bayern Munich coach, Pep Guardiola, has described his UEFA Champions League semi-final tie against Barcelona as a special one.

Guardiola, who will make an emotional return to former club Barcelona with Bayern Munich in the semi-finals of the Champions League, won the Champions League twice in four years as Barca coach between 2008 and 2012.

FC Barcelona will host FC Bayern Munich in the first leg on May 5, with Real Madrid being guest of Juventus in Turin on May 6. Barca will visit Alanza Arena on May 13, while Madrid will host Juve in the second leg on May 12.

Shortly after the draws were held on Friday, Guardiola noted that playing his former club would be something special.

““Everyone understands how special this game is for me, for Thiago and my staff,” said Guardiola, adding, “Barcelona was our life. When you are in a semi-final then you will always face a big team. What can I say? “Barcelona is my home. It will be a special game.

“We have to analyse Barcelona. Barcelona is the best team at the moment. I am not surprised. He (Luis Enrique) has a lot of quality. He is a great guy and I am happy I will be facing him.”

Though, Barca coach, Luis Enrique, feels that, “It’s special as it’s the first time Pep faces Barca, and I face him, and he he asserts that Barca target is winning both legs.

“I don’t care about playing first leg at home or away. We will go out to win in both games.

“Pep is my friend. He’s the best coach, for the trophies he has won and for his way of playing.”
