Plateau Will Resist Threats To Peace – Lalong

Governor Simon Lalong has promised to stop at nothing in ensuring that all  contributions that will enhance  peace building efforts are tapped to nip in the bud all potent threats to peace and peaceful coexistence on the Plateau.

Governor Lalong, who stated this at Government House, Jos,  while receiving Muslim Ummah leaders in his state who paid him Sallah homage on Monday,  said the place of religious and community leaders in this peace building efforts will not be relegated to the back ground.



He used the occasion to call on the Moslem Ummah in his state to sustain the place of the spiritual benefit of the Ramadan Fast in all that will be done to ensure that the true virtues of faith are lived in all facets of life.

According to him, “It is only in our efforts as people of faith to give good expression to our conviction of faith that we show our devotion to the Almighty God.”

He admitted that going by the support of his administration received from the Moslem Ummah, it is reflective of the fact that “we all are committed to having a united people on the Plateau destined by God to live together in peace and harmony.’’

He expressed appreciation to God to creating an enabling environment for peaceful Sallah celebration without any threat to life and property.

“Our collective efforts in ensuring community vigilance, public order and the sustenance of religious teachings that engender peace and harmony are no doubt the necessary ingredients that will continue to enhance our peace building efforts on the Plateau,’’ Lalong stressed.

He added that he was happy to receive the entire delegation of the Moslem Ummah on the Plateau on this very significant occasion of the traditional Sallah Homage

He also stressed that in spite of the challenges that the state was confronted with, the public statement of support received from the Moslem Ummah is reflective of the fact that they are all committed to having a united people.
