Ahead of its match with Akwa United in Kano, Kano Pillars Football Club has disclosed that the morale of players is sky-high to get a good result.
Idris Malikawa, Media Officer of the former champions, who spoke to Independent, said the club has done everything possible to motivate the players ahead of all the matches in the current season.
“We pay players as at when due; their bonuses are paid as soon as due, so there is no question of whether they are owed or not,” he said.
Speaking further, Malikawa commended the state government for its magnanimity, especially after the former champions came from the dead to defeat Rangers in the day-one of the league.
“The governor showed enough magnanimity and we thank him for that.” Asked whether it will be a recurring thing, he said: “It was just for that match; maybe he can do it again. The governor was excited over the way the players won the match and he rewarded them. It is not compulsory that he will keep doing it,” he said.
