Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta State Governor, has called on Deltans to promote virtues of love, peace and unity which are critical family values for the development of a better society.
Governor Okowa made the call at the weekend at Owhrode Udu Local Government Area during the burial ceremony of late Mama Mary Oghenechowen, mother of Dr. Chris Oghenechowen, a former member of the House of Representatives, and currently serving Chairman of Governing Council of Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara.
The governor, accompanied by top government functionaries, attended the burial ceremony of Late Mama Oghenechovwen and also that of late mama Blacky Cecilia Akemu-Iffie, mother of Hon. Napoleon Iffie, vice chairman of Uvwie Local Government Area at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, River Road Ekpan.
He urged the children of mama Oghenechovwen to maintain virtue of peace and unity of the family exhibited by their mother stressing, “given the quality of people that came to stand with you shows that mama lived well and this is a good show of friendship.”
Senator Okowa described Dr. Oghenechovwen as a loyal party faithful who has served in various capacities and at all times demonstrated uncommon love and commitment to service.
He said that it had been proven by the calibre of men and women who came to show their support to him, noting that he was not surprised while recalling their school days way back at the University of Ibadan.
Dr. Oghenechovwen thanked the governor for making out time to honour him and the people of Udu on his mother’s passage, promising to remain faithful and to ensure the peace at all times.
