THE general peace that characterized the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections in Nigeria has been described as a demonstration of the love of God for the nation.

Dr Basim Elumelu, Proprietor, Nelson Mandela International School, Abuja, stated this while speaking with Sunday Independent, attributing the victory of General Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressive Congress, APC, to the clamour for change by the people without regards to ethnic, religion or party affiliation.

He was emphatic that the outgoing government failed Nigeria by propagating wholesale corruption and undermining the security of the nation, noting that although General Buhari might not be a saint, the people generally craved for a change which he and the APC were the only change agent available at the moment.

Believing that the people are hopeful that the new government will lead them aright, Elumelu argued that President Goodluck Jonathan only concede victory because power belongs to the people and it was the people who actually fought for the change while the President and the party are merely caretakers of the peoples mandate.

The school Proprietor called on the incoming government to carry out detailed investigation into the short comings, failures and the dwindling economy at the different sectors. ‘’The government must ask questions about the origin of corruption, insecurity, fraud, and corrective measures put in place to create an egalitarian society in order to move the nation forward,’’ Elumelu stated.
