Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijesha zone, Osun State, have said the proposed summit by the Osun Stakeholders group was nothing but a grand plot by elements in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to subvert democratic tenets and plunge Osun into pre-meditated crisis.

The party said it had it on good authority that core players in the summit, including Yinka Odumakin and Niyi Owolade, were men of questionable character and integrity, whose actions in the past had served as an obstacle to progress.

The Ijesha group said that the intention and clandestine activities of the personalities and their sponsors were well known, and they were acting out the script of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),  its  governorship candidate in the last election, Iyiola Omisore, and is Osun East senatorial candidate, Francis Fadahunsi.

It said the summit on “education and financial status,” which had a pre-conceived end, was being financed by Omisore and Fadahunsi.

A statement by the secretary of the APC in the zone, Prince Femi Kujembola, said the major players in the plot were people of compromised values who could not be trusted, as they rely on blackmail, mudslinging and all sorts of dirty jobs to survive.

Describing the conveners of the summit as professional detractors and rumour mongers who want to capitalise on the financial challenges in the country to bring Osun State down, the APC said, “While Odumakin, a professional detractor and one of the major conveners is known for acting such scripts once the price is right, Owolade is a known PDP member, an unstable and unsuccessful politician, while Omisore, the financier, is reputed for violence.

“We know that the intention is to fuse the energy of these questionable characters to create confusion among the populace of the state, with the aim of achieving their selfish interest,” the APC leaders said.

The APC caucus in Ijesha, urged its members and the entire people of the state to disregard and dissociate themselves from the summit and its promoters and “efforts to cause chaos by the PDP surrogates.”

It also urge security agencies to be on red alert, and nip any violence in the bud in Osun State.
