The out-going students of Legacy High School, Lagos have been advised to make right and informed choice in their academic pursuit as they bow out of secondary school to further their education.

Drawing from the various testimonies by parents and successful old students of the school in their respective fields of endeavours, the graduating students were asked to be careful as they take decision in pursuit of their academic career in life.

Delivering a paper at the event witnessed by parents, guest of honour and the school management, keynote speaker, Engineer Murtala Agoro, warned that the choice of career pursuit made by children students was an essential move that could make or break a future ambition.

Hence, he called on the graduating students to always seek God’s intervention before every move, decisions and shun negative peer influence when they were caught in between what steps to take.

He said: “Future begins now. As you go into the world, you are going to face challenges but all you need to overcome have been deposited in you. Do not disappoint your parents who have strived so hard to give you quality education.

“In higher institutions, there are countless challenges and series of problems to be solved. Do not hesitate to seek God so that you can make a right decision or choice,” he said.

Agoro, who stated that he as an adult apart from seeking God’s intervention also discusses issues with his wife, urged the students to be prayerful before arriving at decisions.

He added, “Today’s wrong choice will hurt you tomorrow so choose right. Don’t get involved in cultism, drug abuse or any kind of vices that can jeopardise your future career’’.

“If you do well in examination, there is no need to know any lecturer before you secure admission. Never have a mind set of looking for short cut because it will not leave you without an attachment that will hurt in the future,” Agoro warned.

Agoro further admonished them to strive to achieve their full potential and be entrepreneurially minded, adding that the labour of both their parents and teacher should begin to manifest in their lives as they strive hard and journey into life.

“And as you are studying always have in mind of becoming an entrepreneur in the future. Today we are over dependent on paid employment that is not available. We can change this scenario if you start thinking right from school,’’ he assured.

Chairperson of the school, Chief (Mrs.) Paulene Oshunride, expressed confidence in the quality of academic and moral education planted in the students by the school and assured that they would excel in life.

According to her, she was fulfilled because the school had been repackaged to turn out students that could compete favourably with their counterparts anywhere in the world.

She added, “Our mission has always been to deliver quality and affordable education. We have been delivering on our promises by giving the children quality teaching and moral instruction”.
