Pan -Atlantic University Dean Lead Talks At ICT Journalism Event

Dean,  School of Media and Communication (SMC), Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, Dr.  Ikechukwu Obiaya   will lead talks on Media and Nation Building at the event celebrating Aaron Ukodie’s 30 years of ICT Journalism.

Obiaya’s lead presentation will be complemented by varied contributions by other speakers that would look at journalism practice in Nigeria, some specifically focusing on ICT journalism. They will seek to chart a more progressive path for the profession.

Engineer Olawale Ige, former Minister of Communications and Commissioner at the NCC will chair the event, which holds on Thursday, July 2, 2015.

It would be recalled that Engr. Ige played leading role in the liberalisation and deregulation of the telecommunication industry and the eventual creation of the Nigerian Communications Commission. Ige is a doyen and a father of the ICT industry, whose wisdom and ideas have shaped the sector.

The Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Dr. Eugene Juwah and Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) are among the Special Guests of Honour expected at the event.

Other key players of the ICT industry, among them Chief Leo Stan-Ekeh, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, Chairman, Teledom International, Dr. Chris Uwaje, Engineer Lanre Ajayi, ATCON President, Engineer Mohammed Rudman, CEO, IXPN, and others will lead a team of journalism stars and managers to the event.

Three books: The Privatisation of NITEL: An Archetypal Government Agency, Path to ICT Development and The Lead Story shall be launched at the ceremony to mark the milestone in ICT journalism.
