Pa Mark Tourney: ‘Titanic Battle for Pros, Amateurs’

Nigeria’s top professional golfer, Emos  Korblah, has described the contest among the pros and amateurs in the 2015 edition of the Pa Mark Memorial Tournament as a “titanic battle’ that will be worth memorable.

Korblah rated among the first-three Nigerian professional golfers in a phone chat on Wednesday from Otukpo, predicated his rating on the quality of players featuring in the tournament which commenced on Wednesday April 29, 2015.

According Korblah who is one of the coaches of Otukpo Golf Academy, “Top golfers from all walks of life have registered for this tournament, pros and amateurs all tested and trusted. I’m very convinced, by the pedigree of the players in this tournament including myself, it will be a titanic battle.”

Also commenting on the tournament, Otukpo Golf Club Captain, Hon. Owoicho Abel Anyebe, revealed the events which commenced on Wednesday with a qualifying match will have the Pro Category 1 teeing off their game on Thursday (yesterday).

He revealed also that the professionals and the amateurs will hit the course on Saturday in a joint game as the tournament will wind down on Sunday May 3, 2015.

The captain however, reiterated that all logistics to ensure a hitch free tournament have been put in place, just as he appealed to the players to play by the rules of the game.

“This tournament is big and attracts top golfers around the world, hence we are appealing for peace and players should play according to the rules of the game. On our part, all logistics have been put in place to ensure a smooth tournament,” Anyebe stated.

At the last count on Thursday, some top professionals in the likes of the defending champion, Oche Odoh, Sunday Olapade, Chukwudi Okoro were already in Otukpo for the game.

One notable amateur and 2014 ladies defending champion who has registered her interest to defend her title is Amina Wilfred of IBB Golf Club, Abuja, just as there will be other top lady golfers in action too.
