The leadership of Yoruba socio-cultural group, Odua Peoples’ Congress (OPC), Oyo State chapter, has distanced itself from some hoodlums recently arrested for looting some shops in Kanike area of Ibadan.

A statement by the state OPC Deputy Coordinator, Rotimi Olumo, urged the public to disregard the rumor linking the group to the dastardly act, saying “no bonafide member of OPC will commit such dishonourable act”

The statement advised public be wary of some people that have betrayed the oath and tenets of the OPC and have long been expelled from the organisation.

It warned the looters to desist from such act, or else, the group will comb the area and fish them out and hand the culprits over to the law enforcement agents.

“We don’t condone any act that can bring the good name of the group into disrepute, our attentions have been drawn to some people that are being used by some politicians, masquerading as spokespersons of this group, but whom we have expelled for long time over anti group.

“Oyo OPC is known for its peaceful disposition but, we are strongly warning the dissidents to desist from tarnishing our good name or using Otunba Gani Adams to gain cheap popularity or face serious punishment from the group,” the statement said.
