The National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) has called for quick resolution of differences between the academic staff of tertiary institutions in the state and the state government so that they can return to campuses.

The President and Secretary General of NAOS, Animasahun Adekunle and Ganiyu Fatai made the call in a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo.

It would be recalled that the academic staff of tertiary institutions owned by the state has embarked on strike on some pressing demands bordering on their welfare.

The students of the affected institutions who staged protest last week calling for amicable resolution of the rift between the lecturers and state government admonished the two bodies to harmonise their positions on the current disagreement for them to return to their campuses.

While the students said they sympathised with the demands of their lecturers, they also reminded them that the Governor Rauf Aregbesola administration has made tremendous impacts on the education sector in the state which cannot be dismissed.

The students said both parties should consider their future and come to agreement.

The students President said the entire students’ population recognises the many challenges before the state government especially as occassioned by the national economic crisis.

Urging the state government to reach a compromise with the striking lecturers of the State owned tertiary institutions, the students also called on the relevant stakeholders in the state to arrive at a common ground in resolving the issue of the ongoing strike by taking every necessary step that would facilitate quick resumption.
