The Governing Council of the Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun has approved that all final year students of the institution be offered entrepreneurship skills for the enhancement of self-employment and business that will be lifelong both in terms of acquisition and benefits.

The council came up with the decision of entrepreneurship skills for all the students of the institution as a way of reducing the problem of unemployment confronting the nation after an intensive meeting of both the council and the management of the institution.

The entrepreneur initiative, according to the council, is designed to provide knowledge, entrepreneurship and employability as added values to the graduates of the institution.

The 12 modules training scheme whose idea was conceived by the present governing council of the institution will begin fully from September, 2015.

Entrepreneurship scheme of the institution will be implemented within the College’s newly Established Centre for Special Academic programme (CESAP) which focuses on collaborating with the private sector to effectively deliver the college’s non-core Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programme.

Earlier on assumption of office, the Governing Council of the institution had mandated that all students of the institution must be offering Agriculture as a compulsory subject to add to the disciplines of their choice.

Acting provost of the college, Dr Basiru Gbadamosi disclosed that the giant stride of the present Governing Council has brought tremendous transformation to the institution, adding that two of the students of the Institution emerged best in Mathematics competition in Abuja recently.

Dr Gbadamosi opined that the school is free from cultism and other societal vices, that are common in many tertiary institutions.

He said that the election of Students Union Government (SUG) recently conducted was devoid of crisis as the students conducted their election with maturity and understanding.
