Members of the Osun State House of Assembly have appealed to public workers in the state to rescind the decision to proceed on indefinite strike action.

The lawmakers pleaded with the workers to tarry while the government addresses the issues surrounding their unpaid salary running to six months.

Speaker of the Assembly, Najeem Salaam, made the appeal at a plenary.

The Speaker noted that the issues of unpaid salaries in the state require a little more patient with the government, adding that the state government was doing everything possible to address the problem.

Salaam particularly urged the state workforce to wait for the incoming government at the centre to take over, assuring that the issue is part of other matters to be urgently addressed.

Appreciating the workers for their patience so far, the Speaker said the salary issue was not limited to Osun, but a general challenge facing all zones of the country.

“We are not denying the fact that our people are suffering, but it is not only in Osun, it is a general thing happening across the zones in the country.
