The African Footballer of the year expressed her sadness for missing out of the tourney but urged then the team can still claim the bronze medal at the end of the day.

“I’m not happy missing the African Games but I wish the girls good luck. It’s been tough no doubt but I believe they have tried to make the country proud,” Oshoala told Goal.

“They just have to play together and stay strong no matter what the game brings. They should play like one family till the end. I’m sure of their victory [in the bronze medal match],” she concluded.

The 2-1 loss to Cameroon was the second defeat of the Nigerian women at the All African Games as they also lost by the same scoreline in their Group A game against upcoming third place opponents Cote d’Ivoire.

Meanwhile, Former Super Eagles Coach, James Peters, has sought the sack of Falcons Coach, Christopher Danjuma.

He made the request on the premise of the team’s 2-1 loss to Cameroon in the 2015 African Game semi final on Tuesday.

The semi final meltdown was Danjuma’s third defeat in a competitive game since assuming the coaching role of the Falcons and his second straight loss in the Games. Nigeria lost to Cote d’ Ivoire in the final group stage game to place second.

Strikes from Therese Abane and Madeleine Ngo Mani overshadowed Onome Ebi’s equaliser to stop the reigning African champions from reaching the finals.
