BENIN – Mr. Roy Osatohanmwen Osariemen, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, on Monday led the people of Orhionmwon to pledge their support for the governorship candidate of the party, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

Osariemen, who made the pledge when he led crème de la crème of Orhionmwon to Obaseki’s campaign headquarters in Benin, assured that come September 10, 2016 the entire people of the local government area would file out to use their voting cards to deliver the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

He said that the entire Local Government Area was absolutely behind the candidature of Godwin Obaseki despite the fact that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, one of the major opposition candidate, of the People’s Democratic Party is also from that same local government.

“As a member and an executive of the APC in my local government, we are working round the clock to deliver Orhionmwon for Godwin Obaseki . We know Orhionmwon is very peculiar in this election as one of the major opposition candidates is from Orhionmwon, yet, we are assuring him that he would get our 100 per cent support,” Osariemen said.

Osariemen further refuted the widely speculated rumours that there were crises rocking the boat of the party, stressing that grievance after every primary is expected but as a party that envisages that, it has also put machinery in place to ensure that aggrieved individual is brought to a roundtable to resolve the differences in the interest of the party.

He urged the aggrieved contestants who lost out in the primary to accept the result in good faith as the party could not afford to be divided at the time that the governorship election is just by the corner.

Osariemen who commended the committee that conducted the primary, said the process that threw up Godwin Obaseki was credible and transparent saying it was laughable for some individuals to have said that the APC governorship candidate was unknown figure in the state.

“It was laughable with the way some persons were busy spreading rumours that the popularity of the APC candidate was unknown prior to the election. He scored the highest number of votes cast by the representatives of the 192 wards in the state. This went a long way to show the popularity of Obaseki in the state.

“He contested the primary with one-time governor and a former governorship candidate and other political bigwigs to eventually emerge tops.

“He is a popular candidate and I am rest assured that he is the next governor of Edo State,” he said.

Osariemen, however, advised the people of the state to vote wisely as the development strides of the Oshiomole’s led administration were very visible for all in the state, adding that there was need for them to vote for continuity.

He said that it was clear that the APC has lifted the veil of bad government and leadership from the faces of the people of the state.
