There are indications that the battle between the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, and his predecessor, Gabriel Suswam, is about to get “messy” Daily Independent authoritatively gathered.

The administration of Ortom who is of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has set up several panels of inquiry to probe the administration of Suswam of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) with the intention of uncovering graft.

But Suswam had stopped the proceedings of the panel through an injunction granted by a Makurdi High Court.

Daily Independent further gathered that as it gets messy, Suswam’s predecessor who is also the immediate past Senate Minority Leader, Senator George Akume among others may also be caught in the cross-fire.

We Daily learnt that the Suswam camp is set to release damning documents that may the truth behind the allegations leveled against him.

The documents may also expose the involvement of the state governor and some key people in his government as well as others charged with the responsibility of investigating Suswam.

The Suswam’s camp is worried that the state government is implementing the decisions of the Transition Committee which had on it key players in the last administration and that have questions to answer among them is a former Head of Service (HoS), Mike Iordye.

Sources close to the Suswam camp faulted the inclusion of Iordye who is currently immersed in court cases over the sale of government houses on owner/occupier basis as a member of the transition committee.

He told Daily Independent that Akume may have also been involved and or benefited from the sale of the government houses in which Iordye sold to some civil servants in the state while he (Akume) was governor.

On the probe, the source noted that “At the end of the day (after the probe) the fore-finger may be pointing at Suswam but the remaining four fingers will be pointing in the direction of his (Suswam’s) accusers”

The “true story behind the sale of Berger and Dangote shares” Daily Independent also gathered may be revealed in the course of the mudslinging that may soon ensue between both parties.
