Onigbinde Laments Plagiarism Of Works On Football Development

Adegboyega Onigbinde, former FIFA/CAF Instructor and Technical Committee member, has lamented that his works on how football could be revived in Nigeria have been plagiarised by other stakeholders in Nigeria.

The former Super Eagles handler consequently vowed never to contribute on any issue relating to football development in Nigeria except on contract.

According to Onigbinde, in a chat with Independent recently, “Before I speak on football development in Nigeria again, I will have to be paid.”

He explained further, “All the research works that I have done on how football teams could be revived, people (names withdrawn) will take them present as their own work and get paid; they will put their name but everything word –to-word remains mine.

“Besides, all the work that government (federal and states) have used me to do, including NFF till date, no reward. I cannot be using my intellectual property for free and people feeding on it,” Onigbinde said.

On why he has not taking any legal action, he said, “Legal action in Nigeria is a waste of time because one will only waste his money and at the end of the day, nothing will happen.”

It will be recalled that Onigbinde was behind the transformation of IICC Shooting Stars to Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan.

The development was aimed at removing the team from government’s control and making it self-sustaining.
