Olu Of Warri: Burial Commences Nov 19 To Dec 3

Activities marking the final burial of the  Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse 11 (CON), has been schedule to commence from November 19 to December 3 starting with a commendation Service at the palace, Ajamimogha, Warri and thereafter Ode-Itsekiri proper throughout the period.
Similarly, the coronation of the Olu-designate, Prince Godfrey Ikenwoli Emiko (Omoba) as the 20th Olu of Warri, has been scheduled for December 12, 2015 at Ode-Itsekiri the ancestral home of the Itsekiri people.
Authoritative sources told Daily Independence that all necessary arrangement for transportation, feeding, security and others have been concluded for a smooth burial and coronation ceremonies.
Though the programme of event have not been officially released, Ode-Itsekiri and Warri Urban is now wearing a new look and business activities heightened in both places.
Particularly, at Ode-Itsekiri (Big-Warri), new and modern buildings have sprung up at all the nooks and crannies of the ancient town with pockets of houses burnt or demolished during seven years Ijaw/Itsekiri crisis dotting every part of the town that has good network of motorable roads.
A new amphi-theatre under construction is near completion just as heavy duty swamp buggies were seen clearing the creeks and bringing down mangrove trees and creating a massive and lovely environment to behold.
Itsekiris and other sympathizers now wears different broaches and other emblems signifying the circumstances of the times for both the burial and in-coming coronation ceremonies, even as vest and wrappers of all shades now adorns every shops in the oil City to commemorate the events.
