Group Chairman of Nigerian Museum Trade Tourism Village (NUMATVILLE), Akin Olowookere, has applauded President Goodluck Jonathan for his courage in accepting defeat, even as he congratulated the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) over his electoral victory.

In a statement made available to Sunday Independent at the weekend in Lagos, Olowookere described Jonathan as a rare Nigerian politician, imbued with uncommon humility and great sense of patriotism, who put the interest of Nigeria above his.

While also congratulating Buhari for electoral victory, Olowookere advised Jonathan not to be dampened in spirit as he has laid a foundation that would remain memorable in the country in all spheres of life.

Olowookere stated that although Jonathan lost, his administration has set a democratic and electoral precedence among other democracies.

He advised Nigerian politicians to take a cue from Jonathan’s example and learn to accept defeat gallantly.

Political offices, he stressed, are no one’s inheritance, and that while God gives any one an opportunity, he should ensure he makes the best use of it for the benefit of mankind.

He also advised Buhari to brace up for the tasks ahead as he assumes the presidency come April 29, and to avoid being teleguided in such way as to lose focus, stressing that Nigerians expect much from him.
