A group known as ‘Vibrant Okpe Youths for Change’ has urged members of the Delta State House of Assembly to elect the incumbent Majority Leader and member representing Sapele state Constituency, Monday Igbuya, as their Speaker in the next session.

The call was made in Sapele Local Government area by President of the Sapele-Okpe Youths Community who is also the Chairman of the Vibrant Okpe Youths for Change, Umukoro Ogbotor.

Ogbotor noted that Igbuya’s wealth of experiences as a former local government chairman and a legislator in the Delta State House of Assembly, coupled with the fact that he had also served as Chairman, House Committee on DESOPADEC in the House of Assembly and other political offices, are enough to qualify him for the Speaker’s job.

He added that as the longest serving member in the Delta House of Assembly, Igbuya has all the necessary prerequisite position of Speaker of the House.

Similarly, Secretary of the youth group, Akoko Arusuayine, together with Iboyitie Sunny lauded the pragmatic approach of Igbuya’s administration as a lawmaker.  They added that if Igbuya becomes Speaker of the House, he will add more value to the general development in all sectors of the state.

While also reacting to the xenophobic attacks on

Nigerians in South Africa, the group called on the South Africa government to put an end to the trend, describing the attacks as inhuman, barbaric, and unconstitutional.

It also said the action is capable of breaking the cordial relationship between the two African countries.
