Okowa’s victory signals a new Delta, says Ogeah

The Delta State Ministry of Information has described the ambience, peace and the spirit of camaraderie that characterised the emergence of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as the Governor-Elect of Delta State as a manifestation of the fact that Deltans have entered a new threshold on the road to building a hub for development in Nigeria.

The Ministry in a statement signed by Chike Ogeah, the Commissioner for Information while describing the people of the state as the real winners of the April 11 governorship poll said Okowa’s election will consolidate the state’s “march towards building a Delta State that will drive the economic and social development of our country.”

He said the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP at the election “is an enduring affirmation of the people’s confidence in the developmental strides of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and the ability of the Dr. Okowa to move the state forward.”

He tasked Deltans is to leverage on the new spirit of entrepreneurship encapsulated in the Delta Beyond Oil initiative of the Uduaghan-led government to key into his successor’s drive of making the people prosperous. He added that the people of the state are delighted that a candidate with unprecedented acceptance and followership across all the diverse ethnic groups in the state has been elected as next governor.

For the political class, the victory of the Distinguished Senator demonstrates the fact that presenting the best candidate remains the key to connecting with the people and guaranteeing victory.

The commissioner thanked Governor Uduaghan for driving the transparent process that led to the emergence of Okowa with a pan-Delta mandate that has united the people of Delta State as he congratulated the Governor-Elect on his victory and called on the people to extend their usual goodwill and cooperation to him as he gears up to take the state to the next level.
