A pressure group under the aegis of Core Democrat for Prosperity (CDP) has congratulated Delta State Governor-elect, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, and his deputy, Kingsley Otuaro, noting that their recent victory at the election was “spiritually orchestrated”.

“They both have so much fear and respect for God and their solace was solely in God. So such people have a place in God’s recognition list.”

In a statement, leader of the group, Lewis Otuisi, noted that there was need for even the opposition in the state to congratulate the winners instead of heating up the polity.  “In the true spirit of sportsmanship, like our President has done, they should emulate him and congratulate whoever emerge as winners during elections as it is not a do or die affair.

“And as Okowa did not just jump from the sky to win the elections but rather he worked for it following his huge followership at the grassroots and hence you see the celebration and jubilation every where.

“So they (opposition) should humbly bring themselves and their candid advice to promote the unity and development of the state.”

Otuisi, while expressing gratitude to God for allowing the duo of Okowa and Otuaro to emerge as winners, also prayed for more wisdom for them to pilot the affairs of the state. Otuisi also congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan for creating a world record by conducting a free and fair election and accepting defeat even before the results.

“He has created a world record for conducting an election and seeing some irregularities in some parts of the Northern states, and still accepts defeat knowing full well that he has all the authority to truncate, destroy and to destabilise all manipulative efforts.

“So he is a true man of God and that will tell you that God so much loves Nigeria and does not want it to disintegrate and so we appreciate Him for that.”
