President General of Okene community in Okuokoko, Okpe Local Government area of Delta State, Comrade Patrick Ikpirima, has appealed to the incoming government of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa to retain Chief Henry Ofa as the next chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) to accelerate even and rapid development in the oil bearing communities.

Ikpirima spoke in a speech he delivered at the commissioning of some of DESOPADEC projects by Ofa in the area.

He noted that since Ofa came on board as the DESOPDEC commissioner representing the area, the entire community has been transformed with strings of developmental projects.

He appealed to well meaning Urhobo people to support the dream of ensuring that Ofa emerges as the next chairman of the DESOPADEC board for their own benefit.

Others who also spoke in the community equally extolled the sterling qualities of Ofa as a ‘Talk-and-Do’ personality.

In his own remarks, Ofa appreciated God and the state Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, for providing the enabling environment to serve the people.

He also commended the ‘Orodje’ of Okpe kingdom for the peaceful disposition of his subjects which led to the successful completion of the projects at Okene Primary School, the entire Okuokoko community and the Okpe kingdom in particular where DESOPADEC projects sprang up everywhere.

He also thanked the DESOPADEC Chairman, its Secretary and others who made the projects possible, stressing that any single project given out was a result of the collective efforts of the board members.
