Delta State Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has called on those that contested the governorship election with him in the state not to despair and waste their time in courts.

Olorogun O’Tega Emerhor contested on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chief Great Ogboru of the Labour Party were major contenders in the governorship poll and are at present at the tribunal.

Governor Okowa spoke at Otu-Jeremi during a thanksgiving service and reception to celebrate the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Delta Central Senatorial District victory at the polls.

There were feelers at the event that Okowa may discourage the continuation of the election petitions against him through offer of appointments to the unsuccessful governorship candidates.

At the event, he explained that appointments given in his administration would not be gender specific as women and youths would be given opportunity to thrive in the state.

He said: “I want to appeal to our leaders that you must create space for our women because I am making appointments from a list given to me from the party in the various local government areas so please leaders include women for we do not intend to leave anybody behind.”

The governor also disclosed that the reorganization of DESOPADEC would be beneficial to all Deltans, and maintained that no part of the state would be marginalized as “his administration’s watchword is fairness, equity, and justice for all.”
