Impounded petroleum products trucks by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSDC) littering the state with its attendant hazards has been a serious concern to Delta State government.

Consequently, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa warned that NSCDC should speed up the prosecution of offenders to avoid congestion of such parking space, promising that the state will make efforts to provide parking space for impounded petroleum products trucks.

At the same time, the governor called for synergy in intelligence gathering among security agencies while receiving the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,(NSDC), Delta State Command, Mrs Beatrice Iraboh.

The Governor decried the compartmentalization in intelligence gathering and action, saying it is more expensive and less effective in tackling security challenges in the country.

According to him, “ensure that there is reasonable collaboration and sharing of ideas, particularly when it comes to issues of intelligence gathering and action, you have to be coordinated to achieve the desired results that will be beneficial to all.”

He asserted, “there have to be synergy and a lot of cooperation if we are going to achieve the desired results. I believe that the more the security agencies work together and see themselves as partners in progress in trying to ensure the security of the state and this nation, the better.’’
