Okowa Calls For Govt, Church Partnership

Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa ?, Delta ?S?tate Governor?,  has advocated for partnership between government and the church for the development of the country.

Speaking ?on Thursday when he received the President, The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Dr. Mike Okonkwo, and his team in Asaba, Okowa said that the church should partner with Government to ensure the development of the people and enlighten the People on government?’?s policies and programms.

“The church and government are partners in progress, any government that seek to succeed must have some partnership with the church, it is the best place to mou?l?d the character of ?t?he people?;? society is faced with various vices, and the Church has a major role to play in curbing these vices and pray harder for our nation”, he said, adding  “the church should be an advocate of government to have a stable society, it should be able ?to?communicate to our people, explain to them what government is doing”.

He charged the church to impact on the? l?ives of the less privileged in our society especially those in the ?r?ural ?communities ?asserting  that  “the church should rise up to meet the needs of the less privileged in our  society through assistance to their poor members. It should create programmes that ?a?llow rich members impact on the lives of the poor members”

The governor who commended the mentoring programme of the church called same to be reflected in the public service?.?

Dr. Okowa urged parents to show more seriousness to the ?d?evelopment of their children for the ?b?enefit of the society stressing that “when you don’t have time for your kids,  they will pick up all kinds of vices.”
