The Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Anambra State, and Chairman of Presidents of Ohanaeze in the Eastern states, Chief Chris Oseloka Eluemuno, has urged the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari
(rtd), to implement the Constitutional conference (Confab) report and give the South East an extra state for equity and justice.

South East is the only region in Nigeria with only five states.

Eluemuno made the appeal in an interview with Daily Independent in Awka. He warned that non-implementation of the Confab report would not be well for the country.
His words: “If Buhari turns his back on the Confab report, he will be playing with the unity of this country”.

Eluemuno also advised Ndigbo not to be worried about getting their share in the Buhari government because certain positions are constitutional.

According to him, it has been a norm in Nigeria that if the North produces the president and the South West, the Vice President; it follows that Igbo will produce the third highest in the portfolio, and in this case, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
Also, he assured that when ministers are appointed, South East would get its own ministerial appointees.

Eluemuno condemned a group which called itself a branch of Ohanaeze Ndigbo who visited Buhari and they made unsavoury statements.

On corruption, he advised Buhari to restructure Nigeria, stressing that those who served President Goodluck Jonathan were not different from those scrambling to make his cabinet.
