Ogun To Restructure Hospitals For Better Performance

Ogun State Government says it will focus. more on the restructuring of both the structures and human resources in the State Hospitals to ensure conformity with the World Health Organization standard.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye who stated this during his facility assessment tour to some state Hospitals in Abeokuta said, the restructuring would include renovation of structures, Purchase of more equipment and even distribution of Human resources.

Dr. Ipaye explained that the restructuring would not only ensure efficiency in service delivery but would create an environment where both patients and care-givers would be proud of.

According to him, due to the recent economy situation in the country, about 69 percent of health care funding comes from out-of-pocket hence need for efficient management of available resources and Internally Generated Revenue.

While speaking on recruitment of health workers, the Commissioner said” There is need to improve on the productivity of the existing staff then we’ll be able to measure the gap and fill it up. ”

In his response, the Permanent Secretary,  Hospitals Management Board,  Dr. Adesanya Ayinde said,  necessary machineries would be put in place to ensure that the welfare of health workers was taken care of.

Hospitals visited includes State Hospital, Ijaye, Oba Ademola Hospital, Ijemo and Olukoyi Ransome Kuti Memorial Hospital, Asero.
