The Ogun State chapter of Citizens Popular Party (CPP) has endorsed the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Olufemi Bamgbose, at its candidate for the governorship election coming up on Saturday.

Ogun State Chairman of the party, Chief Ezekiel Ogbonnaya, led other members of the CPP’s state Executive Committee to the endorsement meeting which held at APGA’s state secretariat at Onikolobo area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

Speaking at the meeting, the CPP chairman explained that the decision of his party to throw its weight behind Bamgbose was borne out of their conviction that APGA is the only party in Ogun State which manifesto spells out good plans for the non-indigenes in the state.

Ogbonnaya added that CPP was also enticed with the thousands of youths from across the state who have benefited from the scholarship scheme of Professor Bamgbose.

“Aside from the fact that the APGA governorship candidate remains the only one who does not have a god-father, Professor Bamgbose has also trained and also assisted thousands of youths to achieve their academic pursuits.

“We are endorsing him not because of money. We are aware that Professors generally don’t have the kind of the money that politicians throw around, but they have integrity which they often jealously protect.

“These are part of his sterling qualities that attracted him to us and we believe that if somebody like him is at the helms of affairs in Ogun, he will do well for us,” the party said.

The CPP executive members, however, charged the APGA governorship candidate to embrace other residents in the state, saying Nigerians should be seen as one anywhere in the country.
